Is the 1911 R1™  a Series 70 or Series 80 gun?

The 1911 R-1 is a Series 80 gun.

What is the difference between a Series 70 and Series 80 gun?

The series 80 firearms feature an additional firing pin block within the slide which requires the trigger to be fully depressed in order for the hammer to transfer its energy to the firing pin in order to make the gun fire.  This serves as a safeguard to prevent accidental or negligent discharges.

What ammo do I use in my 1911 R1?

The 1911 Series pistols were designed to use the cartridges listed below:

  • 45 AUTO………..230 GR FMJ…………835 FPS
  • Other correct caliber cartridges not listed above of various types or bullet weights may or may not function acceptably.  Ammunition not described above should be tried and thoroughly tested by the user before relying on it.

Where can I get parts for my 1911 R1?

At this time all parts and repairs are required to go through our factory.  The platinum service plan included with your 1911 R1 covers the cost of freight and provides a 7 day turnaround on your repair.  Should you require service on your firearm please contact us at our toll free number or in writing to request your return shipping packet.

What caliber is the 1911 R1 available in?

The E-RPC 1911 R1 is only available in the 45 ACP cartridge.

These guns are built in our manufacturing facility in Ilion, NY.

How do I get a warranty repair for my 1911 R1?

What aftermarket parts will fit my 1911 R1?
The 1911 R1 is built to industry standard 1911 specifications, because of this there are many aftermarket parts suppliers whose products can be made to fit on your gun.  Many of these parts will require permanent alteration to your firearm in order to function properly.  Any outside alteration of the firearm may void the warranty on the factory part altered. However, Remington offers factory aftermarket accessories for the 1911 that will work with your Remington 1911 R1. Please visit our accessories page to find out more.
Can I dry fire my 1911 R1?

While we would not recommend extensive dry firing of the 1911 R1, occasional dry firing cycles to ensure proper function should not harm the firearm.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior to performing any dry firing sequence it is important that you thoroughly check the firearm to ensure the chamber and magazine are completely empty.

How do I clean and maintain my 1911 R1?

What accessories come with the 1911 R1?

Each Model 1911 R1 will come packaged in a lockable hard case accompanied by (2) 7 round magazines and a barrel bushing wrench.

Can I fire Plus +P ammo in my 1911 R1?

The 1911 R1 is designed for use with industry standard SAAMI spec ammunition.  It is not designed for use with +P ammo nor is it recommended that this ammo be used in your firearm.

How do I load my 1911 R1?

Please refer to loading instructions from owner’s manual to load the magazine of the firearm.  You will find a detailed description of the loading process on pages 16 and 17.

Do you have a custom shop for the 1911 R1?

At this time we are not offering customization work on the 1911 R1.  We would encourage you to check back frequently to inquire about these services.

How do I check the function of my 1911 R1?

Please refer to your 1911 R1 owner’s manual (pages 26-27) for a complete list of safety and function checks for you pistol to determine if it needs to be returned for repair.

What is the warranty on the 1911 R1?

Remington warrants to you, the original purchaser of a new firearm, that for 2 years from the date of purchase, in the US or Canada, your Remington firearm will be free from defects in material or workmanship.

In addition to this standard warranty your Model 1911 R1 comes with a Platinum Service plan which includes the following additional features:
